The IAAF World U18 Championships (formerly named the IAAF World Youth Championships in Athletics up to November 2015) is a global athletics event comprising track and field events for competitors who are 17 or younger (youth). The event is organized by International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). It is held biennially. It was first held in 1999.The World U18 Championships are not to be confused with the World U20 Championships, which are for athletes who are 19 or under. The last event was held in Cali, Columbia in 2015.
Kenya is honored to host the 10th Edition of the World Under 18 year Championship, which is Scheduled to take place in Nairobi, at the Moi International Sports Center Kasarani Stadium in July 12th – 16th 2017. This is event will attract over 2000 participants from 159 countries.
Kenya is the first country in Sub-Saharan Africa, to host an event of this magnitude. This will not only map Kenya as the home of heroes but also as an investment and tourist destination.
